Iceland--NOT!

Well there is nothing to write about today as we have been sitting outside the Reykjavik harbor trying to get in. Winds have been gusting to 30-40 knots and the Captain has tried on 3 separate attempts to go for it only to be turned down due to the wind. With the Reykjavik pilot on board he is the one making all the decisions.


So dear daughters of mine I will not be able to bring you any Blue Lagoon soap. I am so sad about it because I wanted to get some more of the soap for you and for me. Maybe it is sold online. 

While waiting today & with nothing else to do we decided to go to the movie and see “Leap Year” with Amy Adams. During the movie the Captain came on the loud speaker once to keep us posted. No big deal but he went on and on. Finally he left us alone and we got to watch the movie until the very last 2 minutes where Amy Adams is bearing her soul to her new found love in Ireland and the Captain comes on and talks to the very last second! When the movie came back on Amy Adams tells her love “shut up” for some reason but the entire audience clapped because we were all thinking the same thing! The Captain just needed to tell us he was aborting Reykjavik and let us finish watching the movie. But no he droned on and on about this and that and we missed the entire final scene of the movie! They said they couldn’t replay the final minutes for some reason. And we don’t get to go into Reykjavik either.

We are off now to Greenland where we will be guided by an ice Captain (required by law). It will be interesting to see if we can actually get into Greenland. The town we are docking at has only 3500 residents. Let’s see, drop off 3000 passengers who have been held captive for 8 days in a town that only has 3500 residents.
