My Hero...I mean Gyro!

Another "take it easy" day today. Because our next stay is a little tiny town on the coast (Manarola), we needed to run a few errands to prepare for the change. A trip to the bank to get change for a 500 Euro bill, a trip to the store to get some shampoo and soap, did our washing, and that sort of thing.

We did have a litle incident this morning with the washing. On our very last load, the washer was spinning the clothes and the drain hose came off the drain! Water started spewing all over the floor. It took a second before I realized what happened and turned the washer off. We had water everywhere--I mean a lot of water. Luckily, we still had last week's linens and towels in the apartment and so we stated sopping up with towels. Pretty soon the towels were all full of water and we had to put them in the trash can. The washer's drain did not have the hook like our american washers have, it was just a hose pushed onto a fitting (no clamp), and it probably just blew off. What a mess!

We went to a nice restaurant for lunch that some other Americans had recommended in Minori. It was OK, but we are almost totally burned out on Italian food. We have been eating it constantly since we arrived in Italy four weeks ago, and we started eating it in London and Paris. At this point, my next pizza can't come late enough and don't expect me to eat any pasta either! We both feel the same way and so much so that our last meal here in Florence was a gyro sandwich!

We are going to catch the train at 10:30 in the morning to Pisa, and then a short ride to LaSpezia, and then another short ride to Manarola. The whole trip will probably be an hour to an hour and a half.

We are pretty sure our next apartment will not have Internet, so until we find it, we're not sure when our next posting will be, and we probably won't be able to instant message anyone eithee.

too bad you didn't do some exploring up north in the Nordic region, to offset all this Italian time! Oh well, save that for another trip.

I hope your trip tomorrow goes smoothly and you enjoy your new town!
