We got up this morning and most of the 160 passengers were taking the optional city tour of Nurnberg. We opted to forgo it since we had been to the city for the past two days.Unfortunately our river “vessel” is docked in an industrial part of the city.We went for a walk trying to find some city area to visit and maybe an internet point. We mostly saw industrial buildings. We came back and waited for the tours to return, had lunch and left for a one hour drive to the city of Rothenburg.

A little side note: This cruise was touted as a “Christmas Market” cruise. Nurnberg has the most famous Christmas market in Europe but it doesn’t open until December 1st (in the past it has opened the last Friday of November but it has to do with Advent and so this year it is next week). The optional tour people were taken to the area where the Christmas Market is setting up but of course nothing was open so they didn’t get to shop (we had seen the stores setting up and knew that they opened next week, not this week). In addition, it is a law in Nurnberg that all stores must be closed on Sunday. So these poor tour people didn’t get any Christmas Market or any stores open either. They were not too happy about it.

Rothenberg also had no “Christmas Market” stores open but they had stores that are Christmas stores year round open for tourists today. Many people did their shopping not knowing what other stores will be open this week.
Rothenburg is another beautiful, walled city. It is one of Europe’s best preserved medieval cities.
Our room on the ship has a window that is just above the water level. At the ship was loaded yesterday, the ship sank further down in the water, so that now, about one quarter of the window is under water!

Okay- so at what point do you start to panic? I would say if it goes past the half-way point, I'd be calling someone.
Too bad the Christmas Market isn't open until this weekend. Hopefully you will get to spend a little time there before you have to leave for the ol' USA. Enjoy your cruise.
hahaha, Deanna. That was funny! Very cool though...your very own underwater marine expedition!!!
I hope you have/had fun on the cruise. What beautiful buildings and towns. I absolutely adore old, antique-y architecture.
They are going to put you all on diets!
