Torshaven, Faroe Islands

We arrived aroung noon in Torshaven. We left Europe and sailed through the night and day to the Faroe Islands. We had not booked a tour excursion so we headed off by ourselves. Our goal was to climb to the top of the town and find the Lookout Point that had been raved about.

We soon found ourselves following our map: down Eystara Bryggjajota to Kongabrugvin, right on Tinghusvegur, right on Bøkjarabrekka, left on RC Effersøegøta, right on Gripsvegur, right on Fjosagøta. Uh oh a Dead End. Back out we went and then turned right on Hoyviksvegur and right on Myfigøta! We finally arrived at the famous Lookout Point. Okay hold your breath, bring the family around and you will not believe your eyes!

I guess today is a fog day. There is a huge harbor out there with boats and houses but because the fog rolled in we saw nothing.
Actually the town is quite lovely. Small and quaint by those that we have seen so far. The Faroe Islands are a separate country but part of Denmark. There isn't much too do or see but we have included some pictures of what there is. For those who mow: check out the houses with grass on top. How would you like to mow that weekly!

Torshaven has lots of sheep just out grazing and the area is also known for its Puffin colony. I guess they even eat the little Puffins.

We are at sea tomorrow so we won't be posting anything until after our swim in the thermal pools of Iceland--that is if we survive!
