Although we were here before, when we went out this morning—everything seemed new. We have no idea where we docked last time and we have no idea where we are today. We can see the town, but we don’t recognize anything! It seems a very beautiful town.
Corfu is an island, but we also call the town Corfu or Corfu Town. The Greeks have a different name for the town--Kerkira. It is right off the West Coast of Greece, right on the border with Albania.
We have an excursion booked for this afternoon so we decided to walk for a little bit this morning. The area around the dock is rather industrial-looking and it must be about a half a mile’s walk just to get out of the port area. At first there a lot of abandoned and decomposing buildings, but after a few streets it turned into a nice traditional neighborhood with apartments, shops, churches and such. We kept walking for a mile or two and then returned to the ship for lunch and to get ready for our tour.
The tour took us to three locations. The first was a lookout location near the airport. The second location was in town in the shopping district (for tourists). This was the same area we had been to before. The third location was on the other side of the island at an old monastery.
The monastery is on the top a high cliff, right on the ocean. Built in the 1200’s, it is a Greek Orthodox Church where seven monks from different countries, live and work. It was a beautiful little church, maybe 20 feet by 60 feet. It was filled with painted walls and icons and lots of Greek Orthodox symbols and stuff. It was a beautiful spot. Print this post

It looks gorgeous there! I can't remember much about your first trip there either, so glad to know you enjoyed it like a first time.
Beautiful! Why don't you guys ask someone to take a pic of the two of you together? Just say..."would you mind taking a picture of us, we would be happy to do the same for you?" And if you ask someone on your tour I'm sure they wont run off with your camera as you will be getting back on the same bus :)
