Still at Sea.....

We arrived safe and sound to our new home for the next 26 days. Check- in was a breeze; either we are getting better at it or we are faster than most of the people on board. Our room was ready and we got our luggage and unpacked.

Upon our 5:00 departure time the Captain announced that we had still more stuff on dock to load and we could not make our approved departure time. So we had been moved back an hour to 6:00 pm. If we couldn’t make that time, it would depend on when the other ships could let us out. They must have worked really hard because we got to leave around 6:15pm.

Once we started moving out to sea we made our way to the Internet CafĂ© to sign up for our “Only until 10:00 tonight do you get 20 extra minutes if you buy the package plan” deal only to be told that they weren’t ready for us yet. “Come back at 9:00pm” which we did only to be told that they still weren’t ready for us. “We will write your name and cabin down so that you will get the deal tomorrow.”

Tomorrow came and we were told again that they still couldn’t sign us up. It seems that the Noordam was in dry dock the week prior to our sailing and it was getting a new satellite and internet system. Apparently there was a glitch in the system and all the TV’s and Internets were not working. In addition, it would be necessary to take a detour of our course and we needed to stop in Bermuda to pick up a specialist that they were flying in!

So last night, Sunday, we picked up our specialist and as of this afternoon, we finally got our TV’s to work and the internet to work. Of course, we couldn’t get off in Bermuda and couldn’t dock there either. They had to bring the specialist to us by boat! Can you imagine calling the specialist and telling him that he needs to meet the ship in Bermuda and “Oh by the way, the next stop will be 6 days later in Lisbon.!” Too funny! And yes we went right through the Bermuda Triangle with no problems.

So that’s the update. The computer is working, the ship is working, there are lots of elderly people on this cruise, our room is great, there are many elderly people on board, the food is wonderful and we have met many nice, elderly people. I told Jim I was too self conscious after what we have seen at the pool. Print this post

You know, I have heard a lot of elderly people like to take that cruise. Have you noticed that as well?

I was wondering if you guys were sucked into the B. Triangle or something...what with no updates!! Good to hear you didn't go "LOST" on us.

Lots of Elderly people? So you are the babies on the trip? :-) Or do you feel right at home..... Ok, maybe this is a sign, you know that business we talked about you starting, here's your chance, network, pass out your card, gotta start somewhere. Have fun....
