Pictures will come later hopefully...
Well sooner or later something exciting would have to happen to us. We were sound asleep last night and around 11:30 we were awakened suddenly by the crashing of water bottles off our counter, the fruit bowl falling to the ground and the unused plate sliding to the floor. What just happened? The ship was swaying side to side and then the captain came on (never a good sign at midnight) to tell us that they had come across an unexpected large swell that hit the ship sideways as the harbor captain was driving the ship out of dock. (We were in dock until 11:30)
The rest of the night we were swaying back and forth in very rough seas. At breakfast we heard all about the damage that was caused. There were broken dishes, half the pool emptied, bottles of liquor went sliding off the bars, picture fell off in the casino. It was quite the night! Also barf bags were stocked at every elevator just in case!
This morning we came into Cadiz, Spain where we have been before. We headed off on a walking tour of our own because Cadiz has painted color lines throughout the city for different tours. Since we have been here before we really didn't check our maps. We are such pro's you know.
We soon found ourselves in some kind of police mess. There were police everywhere, TV cameras and streets cordoned off and here we are; 2 Americans walking around like we are tourists or something. Finally we veered out of the commotion not wanting to walk into a crime scene and started walking along the Atlantic side of the city. We were basically way out of the way where we wanted to go, a little bit lost but Cadiz sits on the coast and we found our way on the map.
We found our way back to the Fish Market that we experienced in April but this time I wore capris so my pants wouldn't drag in the fish guts like last time. As always there are fish of every make and kind that people are just scrambling to buy.
Cadiz is the oldest city in Iberia. Many say it was founded in 1100 BC. It has remnants of lookout towers all over. We mostly decided to sit in the Cathedral Plaza and enjoyed a diet coke and use the free WiFi that the city of Cadiz provides in certain areas. At noon we were blessed to hear a wonderful concert of church bells that rang for 20 minutes. Last time we were here it was Easter and the Cathedral was blocked off. Hopefully we can go in it this time.

Wow, that must have been a mighty large wave to rock the size of a cruise ship! Scary!! But exciting, I can see.
Glad you enjoyed the city. Can't wait to see pictures! Have you eaten anything exciting lately? ;)
