Mainely a day of R & R

After yesterday's ten hours of driving--we're pooped!  We had to check out of our hotel today (because that's all reserved) so we're headed south making our way back to Boston.  On Wednesday night we get on our flight to London.

We have noticed that there is every kind of "Mainely" store; mainely pet store, mainely ice cream, mainely gas station, etc. I am sure that every use of "mainely" has been used up.

We had a little unfinished business back in Rockland, so we headed back towards the Festival again.  Before we got there, we turned off towards Camden (the next town North).  It is a beautiful seaside town and is listed in "1000 Places to See" because of it's Maine Windjammer Association.  In its little harbor, is the country's largest collection of wooden schooners!  It is just about wall-to-wall keels and rope!

OK, we're looking for something else too.  There was a very clever tee shirt we saw at the Festival.  It says "Its all about ME"--get it?  ME for Maine?  Well, it has been a little hard to find again.  After asking in one of the souvenir shops, the proprietor said he wished he had a shirt that said, "I should have bought it when I saw it!"

Well, as long as we're there,  we might as well eat!  We didn't go into the Lobster Festival, but went to a recommended place from the Internet--The Rockland Cafe.  Mom had Clam Chowder, I had Seafood Chowder, and we shared another Lobster Roll.  It was all good.

So as we're driving around the coastline, and we're kind of looking for a place to stay--and Maridee yells out, "Turn in there!".  It's one of those all white little motels along the coast.  We went in and asked if they had any rooms and, by the way, we'll take the After the Festival price too.  We negotiated a price of $99 for a room looking right down on the ocean.  The place is called "The Ledges".  It is just a row of rooms hanging over a steep lawn that goes all the way down to the water.  Beautiful! We will stay here tonight and head out for another place tomorrow, mainely a motel or hotel.
