Our Day in Scotland

After our depressing day in Belfast we landed in lively Scotland this morning to music blaring and men in kilt's and friendliness everywhere. Though it is a drizzly day that doesn't seem to affect any of the people.
We were lucky and secured tickets to the Military Tattoo for tonight--the last night of the annual event that runs come rain or shine. We have been told to dress very warmly, be prepared for thousands of people and stay with our group! We leave the ship at 3:00Pm and return around midnight. Though the Tattoo is in Edinburgh at the castle, we are driving from Glasgow to Edinburgh in a coach for the event.

It has been hard finding internet time and spots. We were lucky that the port of Greenock has wireless connection and an electrical plug too so we have spent some time catching up with banking and emails and the blog.

I have failed to mention that we are traveling with a wonderful group of friends. We met them 2 years ago on our transatlantic cruise of the Baltic and they have always invited us to join them on other cruises. Others have never worked out but this one did so I sent them an email and asked if we could tag along and join them at their table. They are 3 couples who are related in different ways: Ralph and Bobbie from Virginia Beach, Grant and Jean from Ohio (Ralph and Grant are cousins) and Bobby and Alice Marie (Alice and girl Bobbie are cousins). We have enjoyed traveling with them and comparing stories at dinner of who saw what. Next time we travel with them though we will have to brush up on our trivia as Ralph and Bobbie are masters at trivia!

We will try and post pictures tomorrow of the Tattoo but wanted to get this post out while we still had free internet! Print this post
